Galatians 5:2-6, Hebrews 8:13 "Being Made Right By Love"

“Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor circumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.”

When Jesus came down to earth, he completely fulfilled the old covenant, replacing it with a new one. “By calling this covenant ‘new’, he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.” (Hebrews 8:13). Though the rules in the Old Testament are certainly helpful and good to follow, we should not be following them out of the belief that we must do so in order to be made right with God. Jesus came to earth in order to make us right with God –we cannot do it ourselves. However, when we try to follow the law in order to try to attain justification, it does not have any worth at all. Only when we act out of the love we are shown by our Lord and Savior, by the One True God, is it worth anything.
