Deuteronomy 8:10-14 "Do Not Forget"

“When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.”

It is very important that we never forget how God has blessed us. If we are not careful to remember all of the gifts He has given us, we easily fall prey to the trap of thinking we can accomplish things without God. We cannot do anything without Him, and when we try to take the credit for the amazing things He has done in our lives, when we fool ourselves into thinking we can do it all on our own, we forget the Lord and His commands. We become prideful as we think of all of the things God has done through us, forgetting that it was not through our own power that we accomplished them. We forget His grace and love that saved us from our sins that would condemn us to death.
