“And we pray this in order that you may
live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit
in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with
all power according to His glorious might so that you may have great endurance
and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you
to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.”
Joyfully giving thanks does not just
mean praising God through the good times in our lives or thanking Him for being
with us in the tough times. It is having joy in every single moment of every
single day because we have a God who is good, faithful, trustworthy, and true.
Luke 19:37-40 says, “When He came near the place where the road goes down to the
Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in
loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
‘Blessed is the king who comes in the
name of the Lord!’
‘Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’
Some
of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, ‘Teacher, rebuke your disciples!’ ‘I
tell you,’ He replied, ‘If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.’” If we were silent, even the rocks would cry
out God’s glorious name, because God is so wonderful and awesome and mighty,
when we see Him, we will not be able to keep from falling on our knees in worship.
So, let us not stay silent, for He alone is worthy of all our praise.
