14:7-8, Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 19:21
“For none of us lives to himself
alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord;
and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the
Lord.”
We do not belong to ourselves –our lives
are not our own. We owe everything we are to God. Every breath we take, even
our very existence is because of what he has done. And though we may not always
be able to see it, God has a plan for our life. “’For I know the plans I have
for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you a hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11) Many times, however, we
cling to our own plans and ideas of how things should be done instead of
considering God’s plan for our lives. Perry Noble once said, “We need to allow
our dreams to die to allow God’s plan to be fully alive.” This life is not our
own and it is God’s plans, not our own, that we should focus on. Proverbs 19:21
says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that
prevails.”
